Hood Warfare 2 Suburbs Map: Routes, Cover and Turf Control

Suburbs is one of the four maps Hood Warfare 2 launched with on October 8, 2026, and it is the open, residential one: straight streets, detached houses with porches, front yards, driveways and chain-link fencing, fought over around the glowing territory markers that hover over its houses. Trapstar Games names the map in the store copy but has published no layout, no zone counts and no spawn data — so this page separates what is confirmed from what the footage shows. Everything below is current as of 2026-10-12.

Is Suburbs in Hood Warfare 2?

Yes. The store description lists it by name as one of the maps the sequel shipped with, and Suburbs recurs across the official screenshot set and the trailer.

Official source: Hood Warfare 2 on Steam — the About This Game text reads: "Fight through downtown, the suburbs, The Trenches, and Chicago Mall. Hold down the streets or take the fight indoors, with different routes and positions to learn on each map."

That sentence is the entire official Suburbs briefing — no map page, no screenshot caption, no designer breakdown. Every terrain detail below is read off the official screenshots and the official trailer footage, and labelled as observation.

All four Hood Warfare 2 maps

Map Setting, as far as it is confirmed Status as of 2026-10-12
Downtown City streets, brick buildings, night firefights — the opening aerial shot of the trailer Confirmed by store copy and footage
Suburbs Residential blocks: houses, lawns, sidewalks, parked cars, open lots Confirmed by store copy; recurs across screenshots and trailer frames
The Trenches Name only — no official screenshot, no description of any kind Confirmed name, details unpublished
Chicago Mall Interior mall: atrium, escalators, second-floor walkway, named storefronts Confirmed by store copy and footage

The copy calls these "a new set of maps" for a series that previously dropped players into Detroit in the 2023 original. The Downtown page covers the city block, Chicago Mall covers the interior lanes, and The Trenches page tracks how little is known about the fourth map.

What the Suburbs layout actually looks like

Three official frames carry most of the evidence, and they agree with each other:

What the screenshot shows What you can read from it
Night scene: a blue boarded-up house, a dumpster, trash piles and crates, a chain-link fence on the far side, a red house-shaped icon hanging in mid-air Close-quarters clutter around the buildings; the marker floats at head height in front of a house, not on the ground
Dusk street: three blue-clad players moving past two-storey wooden houses, a large red human-shaped icon at the left, power lines, an overgrown lot and a parked station wagon Wide enough for a three-man stack to hold an angle; grass gives concealment but no hard cover
Daylight street: a scoped rifle pointed down a long straight road with sidewalks, lawns, trees, a yellow pickup, a red hatchback and a box truck The main lanes run long and unobstructed, with parked vehicles as the only mid-street cover

The map reads as a grid of streets with houses set back behind yards, so fights start at range and end when someone crosses a lawn. The screenshots also show three lighting conditions — night, dusk and bright daylight. Trapstar has not said whether that is a cycle, separate variants or different matches, so treat the lighting as unsettled.

Cover: what actually stops bullets

Working through the same footage, the cover falls into four tiers:

  • Hard cover: the houses. Porch walls and building corners are the only full-height protection shown anywhere on the map.
  • Vehicle cover: parked pickups, hatchbacks, a station wagon and a box truck sit mid-lane. They block sightlines but rarely block movement.
  • Mid cover: dumpsters, crates, trash piles and barrels around the sides of the buildings — good for a reload, poor for a hold.
  • Concealment only: hedges, shrubs, tall grass and the overgrown lots. In the daylight frame you can see straight through most of it; assume the enemy can too.
Fight from the corners, not the lawn

Yards are open on at least two sides in every frame we have. Peek from the house corner, break the line of sight with the building, then move — standing in the middle of a front lawn turns any duel into a coin flip.

Chain-link runs along the property edges and stops movement but not bullets, which makes it a tell: an enemy vaulting a fence is committed and cannot shoot back cleanly.

Sightlines and routes

The main streets are long, straight and empty apart from parked cars — the daylight frame is a scoped rifle aimed clean down the block. Three route types repeat:

  1. The street lane. Longest sightline on the map, owned by scoped weapons. Cross it house to house, never in the open.
  2. The yard and driveway circuit. Cutting through front yards and the gaps between houses trades one long duel for several short ones — the flank where shotguns and SMGs earn their keep.
  3. The rear alley and dumpster line. Bins and trash piles behind the buildings give a protected path between two streets — slower, but it breaks the street's lane.

Which loadout suits which lane is covered in the best loadout per mode guide, and first-contact advice lives on the tips and tricks page.

Territory markers and Turf War control

Turf War is the mode that gives Suburbs its shape. The official rule is one sentence: "Gangs fight for control of turf around the map. Earn points for the territory your gang holds, and push the other team off theirs." Points come from territory you hold, so a zone counts while your gang stands in it and stops the moment you are pushed off.

The markers are the visual half of that rule: a red house-shaped icon hangs in front of a building in the night screenshot — the clearest sign that a house and its lot are the contested unit, not a point in the road — while a red human-shaped icon sits at head height in the dusk screenshot, beside thin red lines on the ground and a wall.

The icon legend is not published

Trapstar has never explained what each marker means, whether colours are fixed per side or per zone, or how many zones a match runs. Reading the house icon as a Turf War zone is a reading of the footage, not a confirmed mechanic — if a patch reshuffles the markers, this description may go stale.

For how this fits the other five objectives, see the game modes breakdown; the red and blue sides themselves are covered in the series overview. Trapstar has not published which modes appear on which map.

Learn it against bots first

The store description says you can "set up a match against bots… choose your map, mode, and match settings", so Suburbs is a legal pick before you touch a live lobby. Setup steps and the limits of what is documented about bot behaviour are on the bot mode page.

FAQ

Is Suburbs in Hood Warfare 2? Yes. It is one of the four maps named in the store description, alongside Downtown, The Trenches and Chicago Mall, and it recurs throughout the official screenshots and trailer frames.

How many maps does Hood Warfare 2 have? Four: Downtown, Suburbs, The Trenches and Chicago Mall. Only The Trenches has no published screenshots or description.

Does Suburbs have a day and night version? Unconfirmed. The official screenshots show the map at night, at dusk and in bright daylight, but Trapstar has never said whether that is a cycle, multiple variants or different matches.

Which mode is Suburbs best for? Turf War is the natural fit — the markers visible in the screenshots sit on houses and lots, which is what that mode is about. That is an inference from the footage, not an official pairing.
